The Mograph module is also calculated as a Generator but usefully it has its own Mograph Cache Tag to speed things up in the viewport. It can also store dynamics on Cloners and Fractures within the tag automatically, which can also be copied between scenes.
I mentioned on the previous page that a Display Tag can reduce viewport calculations by reducing the number of clones, but can also recommend the "FS Preview Accelerator" from Florian Sepp. It's a tag that will kill clones during playback so you can frame your shot but retain playback speed. This obviously wouldn't be desirable for every situation but for some things it would certainly be faster than creating a complex proxy setup to achieve the same results.
