Just been experimenting with a solid object being built up from smaller cubes (will be more types of materialsand textures). I've had an idea for an external 'shell' to build around this and form doors that will shut to create a solid 'cabinet' in a single material to house all the cubes. Perhaps the cubes will all be types of wood and the sweeping outer case will be glass.
This is to hint at the furniture made by Tragen design and other designers who use more solid 'construction' materials.
I will experiment with this animation later and drop it back into the scene to render. I think spline masks and extrudes may be the best way to go about sweeping the animated surfaces around the cube, the individual cubes will just be hand animated on to their final positions.
