The premise of the game is to create the levels from different objects, scale doesn't matter and everything has quite a textural look, many things are made from card like the cutout houses. I think the combination of card surroundings and slightly more detailed characters like the 'sackboy' made out of material (wool/sack/twill). This is quite easy to achieve in 3D and replicate in real life as merchandise or even for use in the animations if mixed media is a possibility.
